Anniversary Cake

This cake was made for three couples who are all friends and all share the same wedding anniversary!  Yellow cake with cheesecake filling and fresh raspberries between the layers.  I typically would have made edible sugar flowers, but since this cake was made on short notice, I used fresh flowers.

Bridal Shower Cake

This cake was for my friend Samantha's bridal shower.  White cake with raspberry Chambord swirl, and raspberry filling...yummy!  The bow on the top of the cake was made with the ribbon that was tied around her wedding invitation.  Finished with cornelli lace accents, this is quite possibly my favorite cake yet!

I'm taking a break from preparations for a groom's cake for Samantha's husband-to-be...pictures of that creation will be coming soon!

Safari Baby Shower Cake

This project was a blast!  Vanilla butter cake with double chocolate buttercream formed the base for this fun cake.  The jungle animal puzzle pieces were provided by the customer.

What Kind of Cake Would You Like?

One of the most important questions I will ask when doing your cake consultation!  Your cake flavor and filling options are nearly endless, but here are some popular combinations to consider:

Vanilla Butter cake with raspberry filling
Devil's Food Chocolate cake with coffee filling
Summer Lemon cake with blueberry filling (seasonal)
Classic Carrot cake (with pineapple and coconut, of course!) with Cream Cheese filling
Red Velvet cake with vanilla buttercream
Maple Spice cake with apple filling

Cakes are finished with either homemade buttercream icing or covered in rolled fondant.  For those unfamiliar with fondant, it is a sweet, marshmallow-based dough (also homemade) that when draped over a cake, creates a beautiful, perfectly smooth surface for decorating (the cake in the picture above is covered in white fondant).  It can be tinted any color, and also stands up well to summer heat (buttercream runs the risk of melting), making it perfect for your warm-weather event!

Can you tell I love working with fondant? :)

This is the start of something good!!

Thanks for stopping by!  I'm Denise, a Veterinary Technician by day and baker/cake decorator by night.  I'd always wanted to learn cake decorating, so I started taking classes.  Surprise...I'm good at it!  My family legacy is food service, baking and catering, so this is a natural progression for me, and who knows where it will lead.  Up until now I've been relying on family, friends and coworkers to spread the word about my cakes...which, by the way, are beautiful AND delicious!

Have you ever been to an event where the cake was a sight to behold, and nobody could wait to cut into it?  And then you tasted it...and it was nothing special?  Not with a CattyCorner cake...it's very important to me that each cake I create is moist, flavorful and made from scratch.  And so many cake flavors and fillings to choose from!

Please feel free to email me at cattycornercakes@gmail.com with any questions.  I look forward to creating a great cake for your special occasion!
